Best Memory of the Year

My freshman year of high school has been one with many great and not-so-great experiences.  From playing on the JV tennis team to making the school musical to getting my first real jobs, I can easily say this will be a year to remember.  However, although those are moments that will forever stay with me, they are not my favorite experiences of the year.  This year, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Philadelphia NBC 10 anchor, Tracy Davidson.  For those not living in Pennsylvania, Tracy Davidson is a morning newscaster who has been very successful in her career, as seen by her winning a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award, as well as the award I presented her, the Girl Scouts Take The Lead Award.  Up until last year, I switched what I wanted to do at least once a year.  But this year, I finally feel like I have control over all of this and I can do everything and anything I put my mind to, which is exactly what I plan to do.  I discovered that I have a passion for both writing and speaking, as well as informing others with the most up-to-date news, just like Ms. Davidson.
Since I was presenting her with an award, I had to conduct an interview with Ms. Davidson. I was lucky enough to get invited down to the studio early one Tuesday morning to see the news done live, as well as get a tour around the set and compose the interview. I don’t think I have been or ever will be so excited to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. I got to the studio and saw what I wanted to do unfold right in front of my eyes. I walked into the large room and saw what most people see on the TV a few feet from where I was sitting. Everyone there was so friendly and kind, especially Ms. Davidson. Before we did our interview, I got to take an inside look at meeting, the different rooms around the study, and what it’s like to sit in that not-as-large-as-I -imagined anchor’s desk. While we had our interview, Ms. Davidson gave me tips to achieve my goals to be just like her when I leave my schooling career and enter the “real world”. As a Girl Scout and that is who sponsors the “Take The Lead Award”, Ms. Davidson and I are both believers that as a woman, you are NOT limited. Meeting Tracy Davidson not only showed me anything is possible, but that my goal is to be a news anchor and journalist, as well as a role model to many people.
